History
Middle East Economic Association (MEEA) was founded in 1978. It has been the cornerstone of scholarship on the region since its inception.
MEEA organizes two conferences annually: 1) the Annual Meetings that are held with ASSA Annual Meeting and 2) the International Conference which is usually held in a country in or close to the Middle East and North Africa region. The first Annual Meeting was held in 1980 and the first International Conference was organized in 2001. MEEA also actively participates in Western Economic Association International Annual Meeting. For more information, see conferences.
MEEA has three officers: the president, the executive secretary, and the treasurer. It also has a board consisting of six members. For more information on the roles and responsibilities of officers and board members, as well as their election process, see the bylaws.
